AKA FUNDRAISING at the TWOTWENTY

AKA Gallery will be doing another bartending fundraiser at the TwoTwenty Den as our volunteers did such a great job at their launch party. We’re lookng for volunteers for two evenings : March 10th and April 17th, wjith the former being a longer evening from 7 PM to 2 AM, and the latter being a weeknight so not going quite so late.

As always, keep in mind that 10 hours of volunteering means a free membership or free renewal. Please contact AKA at [email protected] if you’re interested to help out.

The BIANNUAL MEMBER’S SHOW

A very popular (both among our members and in terms of media and community, as well) event, the AKA Member’s Show will return in 2012, as this December of 2011 will see AKA’s End of the World Art Auction in the gallery space.

But don’t worry: the show will return, with a few changes to benefit the membership (we’re exploring options about sales and other professional benefits), and will remain a staple of AKA, but occuring every two years.

AKA Gallery offers a broad range of services to the community, starting with the exhibitions that we program. Members form the core of AKA Gallery–without our members we would not be able to continue programming new and innovating work. Membership helps keep us open, relevant and fresh.
Some of the benefits of membership include:

Board opportunities – Any interested AKA member is eligible to sit on our board of directors. Board members help set the direction of our organization and take part in the planning and implementation of special projects. We also have a number of working committees chaired by members of our board. You don’t have to be a board member to sit on a committee.

Mailouts – As a member of AKA, you will receive our regular mailout that includes our newsletter, containing critical writing, information about upcoming programming and opportunities, as well as a special members’ corner. The mailout also includes the Saskatoon Warehouse Artspace calendar, keeping you informed about what’s happening throughout the building, invitations to upcoming events, and special announcements.
